Instructions for Applying ScaleAwayBIO concentrated descaling
solution in hot water geysers from 50 litre to 200 litre geysers, using the Stand Pipe Method.

The descaler needs to be diluted from 5:1 to 10:1 depending on the severity of the scale.
This diluted formula must be left in the equipment being descaled until all scale build-up has been dissolved and removed from the equipment through circulation.
Once descaled the equipment must be flushed out with clean water before being put back into service.
Stand Pipe Method to Descale an Electric Water Geyser:
1. You would need to switch your geyser off at the electrical isolator switch.
2. Close water isolation valve (the one that feeds water to the geyser).
3. Remove the T&P Valve (Temperature & Pressure Valve), usually located at the highest point on the geyser or geyser piping - (Refer to #9 in image below).
4. Open a tap to drain enough water out to accommodate the displacement required for the ScaleAwayBIO .
• Example – Remove 10 litres of water from a 100 litre geyser for a dilution ratio of 1:10 (Space for 10kg ScaleAwayBIO descaling chemical.
5. Use a funnel to pour the ScaleAwayBIO into the geyser.
6. Open the hot water tap furtherest from the geyser to load the hot water pipes with ScaleAwayBIO .
7. Then close the tap and fill up the geyser to full. Remember the T&P valve is still removed, so the pipe for the T&P valve will be your indicator to show you that the geyser is full.
8. To eliminate any spillage, put a hose on the T&P valve pipe and the other end of the hose into a bucket.
9. As soon as the water drains into the bucket, close the water isolation valve (the one that feeds water to the geyser).
10. Leave ScaleAwayBIO inside the geyser and hot water pipes overnight to dissolve the limescale buildup.
11. Empty the solution of ScaleAwayBIO at the further tap from the geyser.
12. Once the geyser and hot water pipes are empty, close the taps, refit the T&P valve and refill the geyser with clean water by opening the water isolation valve (the one that feeds water to the geyser).
13. Drain the water out of the geyser and pipes then refill the system – do this flushing process at least twice!!!
14. Refill the geyser with clean water and switch on the electrical isolation switch.
